Well I have not been on my blog but I have been working on photos for my gallery in October of NW snowboarders as well as various jobs and a climbing trip to Bishop CA. Some photos of my last 2 months.

Blog Page Change

As you can see my blog is no longer integrated directly into my website. Blogger has done away with FTP publishing and it caused my website not to function correctly with the blog. For the time being it will be hosted here on blogger until I have time to find an alternative that will allow me to publish it to my website again.

Aside from that I have recently updated my web portfolio and will be printing new portfolio books as well. It has been pretty exciting going through images and selecting the new work I want to share as it had been around 8 months sense I had done any type of update. I hope you enjoy looking at my work as much as I enjoy creating it.

Riders at Timberline

Great day at Timberline last week shooting some photos, got to go up with some really cool guys Shaun Daley, Josh Dwinal, Kevin Schuette and Ryan Jacobson. All in all it was an awesome day though a bit icy and I clipped my backpack on a slow sign at a pretty decent speed causing some damage to my face but it's healing up nicely.

With my first official year in business coming to a close I have started to sink back into my own head to contemplate my existence as a photographer in the world today. My images, presence, reputation, friends I have made, and the never ending list of things and events that effected myself and my business.

I fell victim to focusing only on the paid work I had coming in over the last few months and it almost feels like I forgot what my vision was. With the end of the year coming to a close it really forces you to come face to face with what you want from the future.

I took a step back to look at myself, my work and the road I have been trying to follow and I have to say I am excited for the future. I am excited about the personal projects I am starting to work on, the clients I have, the clients I plan to gain, and all the people I will get to meet on the journey.

I want to thank everyone who has taken part in allowing me to work as a photographer, the clients who put faith in me, the friends who gave encouragement and the family members who supported my dream. It may be a continuous struggle but I am lucky to be able to follow my passion.

Come Clean

I feel like I have been reserved about really letting the world into my head and allowing my business to be transparent and more about myself and my images and not just the images. In the end clients are not hiring a portfolio they are hiring a person. I was afraid, afraid of being judged or being rejected. In fact I will take this moment to get some things out in the open so I can move forward. First off I am 25 years old and don’t look older than I am. I did not go to school for photography. I haven’t had a camera in my hands since the age of 5, a little over 4 years ago I received a settlement from a car accident and some urge drove me to go buy my first camera. I will stop their since my intention was not to ramble off a list of facts about myself but those have been a few that I was afraid to share before I landed a job. I may have even convinced myself that those affected my abilities but no more. Going forward I want to keep the curtains open, I am me, I am a photographer. Keep an eye on my about page for when I ad a video bio.

Just a Quick Update

Been working on a bunch of little projects recently as well as spending another week shooting in Miami a couple weeks back. Gotta love the sun when it is all gray and raining back here in Portland. Been hitting the climbing gym as often as my body will allow and counting the seconds till the mountain opens and I can put my season pass to use on the slopes.

A recent tear sheet for your viewing pleasure. This one was cool because I got to use a good friend as one of the models.

Iguana's & Yoga

I was just browsing some of the photos from my shoots in Miami and decided to share a little. I was doing a couple shots at the Morikami Japanese gardens and while I waited for styling I walked the grounds. While I was strolling through my gorgeous surroundings I started to hear this splashing noise from the water so I had to investigate. It took me about 5 minutes to notice the Iguana's in the trees were relieving themselves into the pond. Not exactly what I expected to find. Non the less it was pretty cool to see them all just chillin out in the trees.

Back from Miami

Well I got back from Miami at 1am yesterday morning. Had some delays due to all the storms but nothing to major. All the shoots went pretty well with very few hang ups. Weather was good considering when I left they were still not sure where Bill was heading. I got a light sunburn and lots of bug bits. All in all it was awesome.

Just trying to clean up my desktop and found a folder of images from one of the sea life parks on the Oregon coast from earlier this month. This one was almost an exact replica of what my desktop looked like.

Had time to get out and do some bouldering with some buddies on Saturday and I decided to bring the camera and shoot some photos. Busy week this week with multiple jobs and trying to help get ready for the Lyrik Dance Performance on Sunday night then it's off to Miami for a week long job on Monday at 12:30AM (Yes that's AM, I have to leave 2 hours after the Lyrik show gets over)

Lyrik Dance

My girlfriend recently started her own contemporary dance company that she named Lyrik and so of course the task of taking photos and building them a website fell on my lap. My girlfriend told me she wanted everyone to have a headshot so the first thing I thought was "how can I make this a little more exciting than your traditional headshot". The day before the shoot I ended up running to the hardware store grabbing some lumber and building a makeshift crate. When the girl’s showed up I just told them to do their thing and they did. It was a blast.

Project Chaboo
